Encaustics

Encaustic painting utilizes beeswax and damar resins colored with oil paint.  The melted wax is brushed on a wood panel and then heated to fuse the materials.   This process is repeated layer over layer until the desired image and translucent effects are achieved. Fusing each step with a heat gun creates new and surprising effects when the once controlled image begins dripping away.
